Wayside’s Sidewalk of Fame

The Sidewalk of Fame was started during the summer of 2003 with the purpose of being not only to be a fundraiser, but a way to honor family, friends, actors, board members, or anyone connected in some manner with Wayside Theatre.

These personally engraved bricks were placed in an area of the sidewalk in front of the Theatre.  Had the expansion of the Theatre taken place, the sidewalk was to extend from the front of the Theatre along Second Street towards the back.

Bricks were available for purchase in different sizes:
4-inch by 8-inch brick with three lines of text for $100
8-inch by 8-inch brick with five lines of text for $250
12-inch by 12-inch brick with seven lines of text for $500
In addition to the bricks, a corporate logo could be added to the two larger sized bricks for an additional $25.

For clarification as where the money was directed, a short explanation states, “The proceeds will be used for development and on current building improvements as well as general operating costs” (“Wayside Theatre Starts ….” TWS.  3 June 2003).

At the time the Theatre closed, the sidewalk area containing the bricks measured approximately 4 feet x 6 feet and contained bricks of all sizes as well as tributes.

At this writing, these bricks are still in place.
